Class Summary
Experience: Confident Beginner

This class is for the person who is curious about quilting and the basic supplies and techniques to make a quilt top. 

The first part of this class is getting acquainted with quilting notions that make quilting easy. 

This class will cover fabrics found in a quilt shop along with discussing color, pattern, and how those choices impact blocks and a quilt overall.

We will talk about preparing fabrics for cutting along with rotary cutting safety and how to cut fabric. 

Next, we will review setting up a sewing machine for a ¼ inch seam which is essential for quilting.

We will make these basic blocks.  Rail Fence, Nine Patch, Half Square Triangles, Four Patch 

To be successful in the class, please be proficient winding a bobbin, threading, and sewing on a machine


Supplies Needed

50 or 60 wt 100% cotton thread (recommend Aurifil or Mettler) Cream, Taupe or Beige
70/10 or 80/12 regular sewing machine needles
6 1/2" x 12 1/2" Creative Grid Ruler - Required
6 1/2" x 24 1/2" Creative Grid Ruler - Required
Rotary Cutter 45M or 60M
Glass Head Pins - Bohin
I Sew for fun Seam Guide (optional if you have a quarter inch foot for your machine)
3 different fabrics - light, medium & dark 1/3 yard each.  Please no large scale prints.
Scissors
#2 Pencil
Seam Ripper
Notebook for taking notes
Sewing Machine - Required and must be familiar with how to use.  Don’t forget to pack your cord and foot for the machine)
Bobbins for your machine
