Basic Quiltmaking

This is a beginning Quiltmaking class. Objects of the class:
- Threads and Needles
- Picking the right colors for you quilt
- Cutting with a rotary cutter
- Using a ruler to straighten and cut fabric
- Mastering the quarter inch seam allowance
- Traditional piecing patches verses strip piecing
- Making a simple quilt block.
- Pressing verses ironing.
Supplies Needed
50 or 60 wt 100% cotton thread (recommend Aurifil or Mettler) Cream, Taupe or Beige
70/10 or 80/12 regular sewing machine needles
6 1/2" x 12 1/2" Creative Grid Ruler - Required
6 1/2" x 24 1/2" Creative Grid Ruler - Required
Rotary Cutter 45M or 60M
Glass Head Pins - Bohin
I Sew for fun Seam Guide (optional if you have a quarter inch foot for your machine)
3 different fabrics - light, medium & dark 5/8 yard each. Please no large scale prints.
Scissors
#2 Pencil
Seam Ripper
Notebook for taking notes
Sewing Machine - Required and must be familiar with how to use. Don’t forget to pack your cord and foot for the machine)
